Your Nashville Siding Company — A James Hardie & Vinyl Siding Specialist

Curb Appeal Meets Craftsmanship

So here’s a question: Is your siding showing off, or asking for help?

Why Homeowners Choose Petra for Siding That Turns Heads (and Lasts Years)

Petra Exteriors is Nashville’s siding company for homeowners who want the work done right — James Hardie fiber cement, vinyl, and everything in between. We’re Tennessee licensed (Contractor’s License #80976), James Hardie Alliance certified, and based right here in Middle Tennessee. Nathan Liechty has been doing this for 34 years. When you call Petra Exteriors, he’s the one who shows up.

In a place like Middle Tennessee where porches matter and street views are practically competitive sport, what wraps your home speaks volumes. It’s not just about keeping the rain out. It’s about how your home looks and feels. And let’s be honest, when siding starts to buckle, bleach, or buckle and bleach (yikes), the whole house sort of sighs.

At Petra Exteriors, we don’t do things halfway. We’re not about quick fixes or slapping panels over problems. We work with folks who care about details, about durability, about not having to do this again for a good long while. And maybe most of all? About loving what they see when they pull into the driveway.

Siding Isn’t Just Skin Deep: It’s the Face of Your Investment

You know how people talk about “good bones” in a house? That’s nice and all. But if the skin’s peeling and the smile’s missing, good bones won’t carry you fa, especially in a resale. In Nashville, where charm collides with humidity and hail, siding plays double duty: part weather shield, part first impression.

New siding doesn’t just clean up a house, it resets the whole vibe. Buyers notice it. Neighbors appreciate it. Appraisers factor it. And let’s not forget your own peace of mind. It’s the difference between cringing when guests arrive and hearing them say, “Wow, y’all did something new, didn’t you?”

In terms of cold numbers? Fiber cement siding has been known to return around 90% of its cost at resale. But honestly, that stat doesn’t capture the quiet confidence you get every time you walk outside and think, yep, we did that right.

What Actually Makes a Siding Company Worth Trusting?

If you’ve ever dealt with a contractor who ghosted mid-job or upsold you into a panic spiral, you know: not all companies deserve your business. We show up, keep our word, and don’t talk over your head. Simple, not common.

We Don’t Just Install. We Build Beautiful Edges.

Our crews are siding specialists. Not roofers “helping out.” Not weekend moonlighters. They’re precise, obsessive, and borderline fussy in all the ways that count. Corners align. Seams disappear. And no, we don’t leave mystery caulk blobs behind shutters.

We’re Not Afraid of Math.

Our quotes are clear, detailed, and yes, sometimes longer than you’d expect. But better long and honest than short and vague, right? You’ll see our siding installation cost, from materials to labor to cleanup. Nothing sneaky. No weird add-ons two weeks later.

You’ll Know Our Name.

Every job has a lead. One person. Your person. No endless relay of voicemails or “let me check with the crew.” You ask. We answer.

We hired Petra to re-side and paint our 100 year old house in The Nations. They did a great job, finishing on-time and at a reasonable price. Nathan was very easy to work with. They put insulation into the walls after removing the old siding and before putting up the new sheathing. On the front side they refurbished the original 100 year old lap siding and made it look new again. Both the siding crew and paint crew were friendly, courteous, professional and fast. The work was done with great care. I would not hesitate to recommend Petra if you need exterior work done on your house.

Who’s behind the work?

Petra Exteriors is owned and operated by Nathan Liechty, who has been working in residential exteriors for more than thirty years. Nathan isn’t a figurehead, he’s on your job site for the initial walkthrough, present for client meetings, and overseeing quality from start to finish. When something needs a decision, you’re talking to the person who makes it.

Petra Exteriors holds Tennessee Contractor’s License #80976 and carries $1M/$2M general liability insurance with full workers’ compensation coverage. As a James Hardie Alliance Program member, Nathan maintains active certification through ongoing product and installation training, a designation that fewer than a fraction of contractors in Middle Tennessee hold. Hardie’s Alliance Program isn’t a marketing badge. It requires demonstrated installation competency and a commitment to following manufacturer specs, which is the difference between a warranty that holds and one that doesn’t.

Petra is also accredited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. Petra Exteriors is a licensed Tennessee Contractor. You can verify Tennessee Contractor’s License #80976 directly through the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance.

What We Install

Petra Exteriors specializes in James Hardie fiber cement siding and vinyl siding installation across Middle Tennessee. Whether you’re replacing worn-out cedar, dealing with storm damage or hail damage after a bad spring, or simply ready to give your home a cleaner look that holds up, we install materials built for this climate.

Our most common siding installation projects include HardiePlank lap siding, HardieShingle, HardiePanel vertical siding, and HardieTrim, all installed to James Hardie manufacturer specs as a certified Alliance Program contractor. We also install vinyl siding replacement for homeowners who want a durable, lower-maintenance option at a more accessible price point.

Every siding installation project includes a full walkthrough with Nathan before work begins. We assess the existing substrate, check for moisture issues or rot that need to be addressed before new siding goes on, and help you choose a product and color that fits your home and your neighborhood. Petra Exteriors is licensed and insured in Tennessee (Contractor’s License #80976), and all installation work is backed by both the manufacturer warranty and our workmanship guarantee.

Siding installation cost varies by material, home size, and project scope. Most full replacement projects for Middle Tennessee homes run between $10,000 and $32,500. We provide detailed, itemized estimates, free of charge, so you know exactly what you’re getting before any work begins.

Case Study: The Sandahls Project – A home exterior remodel in the heart of Bellevue TN.

The Sandahls came to us through a neighbor’s recommendation, like most good things in Middle Tennessee. Their 1970s Bellevue home had original cedar siding that was far beyond its maintenance window. The cost of ongoing repairs didn’t make sense given the material’s remaining lifespan, so we helped them explore long-term solutions.

They chose a full siding replacement with Hardie ColorPlus in a classic gray—a durable, low-maintenance option with strong ROI. For added warmth, we installed a wood-tone Hardie accent around the front door, creating a more inviting entry.

Before siding work began, we upgraded all windows and installed new French doors at the back of the home. A custom shingled shed roof with bracket supports was added above, blending function with curb appeal. We also removed several outdated wall sections, visible in the “after” photo with the American flag, and built on-site wooden brackets stained to match the front entry.

To finish, we installed new gutters that were carefully color-matched to the fascia and siding.
The result: a seamless, storm-smart transformation built to last.

Fiber Cement vs. Vinyl: It’s Not Just About Price

Some materials age gracefully. Others, well… not as much. Vinyl and fiber cement both have their place, but they wear the years differently, especially in Nashville’s four-seasons-a-week climate.

Vinyl Siding

It’s affordable, good-looking, and easy to install. Maintenance is low. But here’s the rub: it can warp in heat, crack in a cold snap, and it doesn’t always age well under southern sun. For flips or quick refreshes? Sure. For forever homes? Maybe not.

Fiber Cement (a.k.a. James Hardie Siding)

This one’s the workhorse. Stylish like wood, but far less needy. HardiePlank is fire-resistant, storm-stubborn, and built to hold its color. It costs more upfront, yes. But over time, it earns its keep. It fully mitigates storm damage and even hail damage. If siding were shoes, vinyl’s your comfy house shoes you definitely “don’t” own. Hardie? That’s your leather boots–solid, comfortable, reliable.

So, if you plan on staying put, and you care how your house looks ten years down the road, you know where we lean.

Your Home Has a Personality. Let’s Dress It Accordingly.

Every street has That House. You know the one. Crisp siding. Just-right color. Trim that pops but doesn’t shout. We help you be That House.

In Brentwood, we’re seeing a tilt toward soft taupes and stormy greys—colors that whisper elegance and HOA-compliance in equal measure. East Nashville? More adventurous. Moody navy. Forest green. Black trim. And it works. When it’s done well.

Texture matters too. A little shake detail in the gables? Chef’s kiss. Horizontal boards below, cedar-look up top? Instant dimension. We help you mix styles like a design-savvy friend, not a Pinterest addict. And yes, we can bring samples. To your house. In daylight. Because nothing meaningful has ever been decided under showroom fluorescents.

Here’s What It’s Like to Work With Us

No jargon. No disappearing acts. Just steady progress and honest updates.

We Come to You. We don’t “squeeze you in.” We schedule with care, walk your property, and ask questions that have nothing to do with square footage and everything to do with your goals.

We Help You See It. Colors, textures, layout—we lay it out clearly. And then we build your quote with no fluff. Just the facts. With context. And maybe a little charm, depends on the day.

We Show Up. Crews arrive clean, polite, and on time. They sweep daily, stash gear neatly, and respect your lawn like it’s their own grandmother’s front yard.

We Finish Right. Final walkthroughs aren’t just for show. We adjust, patch, polish—whatever it takes. You sign off when you’re thrilled, not before.

Our primary service area includes Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Kingston Springs, and Ashland City.
