Starting in 1992 when Nathan Liechty, first strapped on a tool belt alongside his father in the Florida panhandle, he learned the trade the hard way, the right way, on actual job sites, solving real problems. What began as a teenager learning the siding trade became a 34-year journey of mastering the craft, understanding what makes exteriors last, and building a reputation on work that speaks for itself.
Nathan didn’t just learn how to install siding from his father, he learned the ethics that matter. Show up on time. Do it right the first time. Treat every home like it’s your own. When his father hung up his tool belt in 2015, the name Petra stayed the same, but the torch passed to the next generation. By the time Nathan took over the family business, he’d already completed well over 1,000 projects across Florida’s demanding HZ10 climate zone, where hurricane winds and relentless humidity test every installation decision.
Why Nashville Became Home
In 2015, Nathan and his family fell in love with the Nashville area. It wasn’t just the music or the scenery, it was the sense of community, the kind of place where you want to raise your family and put down roots. By 2017, that growing desire became reality when Nathan moved his family to Tennessee and established Petra Exteriors as a licensed Tennessee contractor.
But Nathan didn’t just transplant his Florida experience to Middle Tennessee and call it a day. He spent years working as a project manager for one of the region’s most reputable siding companies, specifically to understand Tennessee’s climate, building codes, and the unique challenges homeowners face here.
